Dr. Brian Kerr is a Gainesville native. His educational pedigree includes attending Littlewood Elementary, Westwood Middle, and Buchholz High School. After spending 2 years at the University of South Florida in Tampa, he returned back to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1987.

Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the DuPont Chemical Company. Over the following 6 years his engineering career took him to Wilmington, Delaware, Louisville, Kentucky, and then to New Orleans, Louisiana. While with DuPont, he worked in the manufacturing process of Stainmaster Carpeting, Freon, and sulfuric acid. While working in New Orleans as a Chemical Engineer, Dr. Kerr decided to make a career change to pursue his lifelong interest in medicine. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans. In 1997 he graduated with honors and was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the highest honor in medical education. He remained at LSU in New Orleans to complete a residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2002. Dr. Kerr recalls, “I have only the fondest memories of my time in New Orleans. Charity Hospital was one of the nation’s oldest and busiest urban hospitals. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to train at ‘Charity’ before its destruction during Hurricane Katrina.” In 2002, after a 15 year absence, Dr. Kerr and his family decided to return to Gainesville. Upon his return, he joined North Florida ENT associates, the practice which later became Accent Physician Specialists. Dr. Kerr maintains a broad practice in general otolaryngology, or ENT. His specific interests include treating sinus complaints, allergy, and pediatric patients. He maintains a conservative philosophy of reserving surgery as an option of last resort, and when surgery is needed, strives to perform such in a minimally invasive fashion. As a health care provider, he feels his role is to educate a patient about their options for care and help them make a decision that is right for them. He strives to develop a doctor – patient relationship and has earned a reputation for being a doctor who “actually listens to what I say.” Since beginning practice in 2002, Dr. Kerr has continued educational activities to stay abreast of the latest advances in allergy and the treatment of sinus disease. He has significant experience performing image guided sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, turbinate reduction through a submucosal reduction or Coblation, tonsillectomy with Coblation, and the Pillar Procedure for snoring. Away from the office, Dr. Kerr is married to Cari, who practices as an Endodontist (root canal specialist). They have twin daughters who graduated from high school in 2010. For the past 10 years he has been immersed in the sport of swimming, both as an official and as a spectator, and to cheer for his daughters who are now swimming at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Dr. Kerr and his wife periodically travel to Granada and Nicaragua on medical mission trips with the Christ the Healer group out of New Orleans. The team provides dental and medical care to the needy. Dr. Kerr is an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
